Looking for nice anchoring spots one day out of Monroe Harbor in Chicago. We're chartering a 36' Dufour and would like a nice cove or inexpensive harbor. Any ideas? Thanks.

Great site -- thanks very much!
If you're willing to cross the lake, come over to New Buffalo (about 40 miles from Monroe), or St. Joseph (about 50 miles), or South Haven (about 62 miles). All have marinas that will rent you a slip (call ahead to reserve). If you want to anchor, Holland (Lake Macatawa) is nice, but it's about 80 miles from you.

I can't help you at all with anchorages on your side of the lake.

New Buffalo Municipal Marina (616-469-6887).
West Basin Municipal Marina, St. Joseph/Benton Harbor (269-983-5432).
Thanks very much! Depending on the winds, we may head towards Michigan!
