You can try this arch and you will have your tender always ready and carried high up so you can still use the swim platform to bring on board some "big" tuna.
Do you have any technical descriptions of this ?
Did you made it by yourself?
How you managed the problem with the stability, because the thick of the gelcoat and laminate is not so strong ( i would say, not strong enough ! I noticed that when I have installed our gangway )
The arch with davits was made by Inox Marine in France.(arond 3000 euros). It is used by many Beneteau's Oceanis 40,43,46,50 and even 54. Very well built and designed. The weight is aprox 36kg.
The fixation points are very reinforced with large inox plates outside and inside the hull. It has tubes to have electrical wires for electronics and solar panels. The central part of the arch is reinforced by a tube in the tube (32,7) mm diameter. I must have some pictures at home.
Depending on the tender 260 to 340 cm (for B54). the builder rates the davits for 200kg. I have the project to get an aluminium 280 RIB (AB or Southpacific) wit a 8hp motor. This seems to have the best performance weight ratio.
I usually do not leave the motor on the tender. The big advantage is that you are ready to leave your anchorage in a few minutes. As you know the tramontana can pick up in less than 15 minutes.
This arch has changed our life on the hook. And you can stow the bin in the tender.
If you have time and when you are near your boat, could you send me some more detailed pictures and measurements. The father of my wife is a Boss in a aluminium construction factory :-)
By the way, the brother of my wife is really fine in carbon construction. He promised me a carbon hand made Gangway for a few hundred euros ( material costs ) ... Once I have it ( you know how many time work within the family can take :-) ) I`ll poste some pictures ...
Thank you, I'll show the pictures to my father in law ...
Concerning the second bow rolle, we use it for the moring line ...
What are you plans with the diesel filter system ? Did you have any problems with it ?
In our region the fuel is normally clean ... some times i ad a bit ( 1liter/tank) of 2 times oil ( the one they use in 2 times engines in the fuel )
Hi Denis
I am also thinking of having an arch made. Would it be possible to send some side on photo's of your arch when you have time?
I can see the two main tubes that form the arch, but there seems to be a third one on the rear tude. Is this correct and if so does it swing out?
Also just out of interest, on the bottom photo there seems to be something attached with light lines each side of your anchor. Is this to protect anchor?
There is a rear mobile tube that acts as a davit swinging down and rear so the tender is just at the right distance from the bathing platform to get on board.
This has triple pulleys so the effort on the line is minimum even one handed.
The line in front holds a bow fender to protect the hull a little from the MPI brake anchor and from wharf at the mooring at home.
The arch is very sturdy and well designed.
By the way I am still waiting to install the second alternator kit from yachtwork new zealand. Do you know this product.
Denis Thanks very much for this. It looks very great.
Just one question, it looks like there is a bracing tube on each side that is connected to the middle of the lower rail of the pushpit. I can't see a connector, is it a welded connection, or can it be undone for disassembly?
Sorry, I don't know anything about yachtworks or their alternators.
As you may have seen in another post, I have a Sterling Alternator to Battery charger that seems to work.
Regards
David
The bracing tube is Argon welded to the rear upper and lower pushpit rail. That way all the efforts are distributed to all the contact points. The rear pushpit is now very sturdy and I have no cracks at the stanchion base. this is also good for the outboard motor support.
I forgot to tell you i am also having LED lights istalled in it as well as the rear nav light.
Here is a sister ship (MATALI) photo that shows the davit system and solar panels (2x130W Kyocera I think).
