Spinnaker sock issues

We just finished making a spinnaker sock. It works quite well, save for one problem - it won't hoist completely - as it goes up some of the material bunches up just below the head board, and at least half the sock (bunched up tightly) and the hoop stay below the head, so we lose about 2 feet of the top of the spinnaker. This probably isn't a huge problem, but it would be nice to know how to rectify it. We're going to try folding the head board in on itself and tying it like that to see if the sock will get completely past it - this would give us the whole sail exposed, but would mean that the very top would be folded, but that might be better than losing a whole 2 feet. Does anyone have any info. or ideas?

Problem solved. It seems downward tension on the spinnaker is needed while hoisting the sock. The first time we tried it we were in a very light breeze and the spinnaker didn't really open while the sock was going up, so the sock lifted the spinnaker a bit near the head of the sail and caused a fold - then the rest of the sock couldn't get past the fold.
