I bought a cal 27 last spring and the main sail ripped. I need a new one. But I'm not sure what to buy.  Should I pull down the old sail and measure it first? The boat is a 1971 and I don't want to invest too much. Any ideas where I should buy? Any suggested sites to help me find the right size?

Go on line to baconsails.com, they have an area that has all sail measurements for all boats, type in CAL27, then see what they have.

There are a few used sail vendors around, and perhaps you will get lucky.

Wonderful, thanks!

Try Bacon Sails in Annapolis. Probably the largest sail consignment store in the world. They do most of their sales on the internet. Find the link on SAILS and you'll figure it out... easy. Tell Steve that Pete Carrico sent you. But they have at least 5 employees there daily to take calls for sail sales.
