SeaKnots

After our Saturday laugh at anchoring attempts in Big Lagoon, we headed out yesterday for Destin. A 50 or so mile run, offshore, but fairly close in. After a couple hours of dead calm, running on diesel and auto, the breeze began to pick up. By 11 we were purely sailing. No stinking diesel, no cheating with auto pilot, just pure sailing. Had a beam reach all the way, about 10 knots or so of wind, and making 5 to 6 knots of boat speed. JUST LOVELY Then about an hour out of Destin, a pod of Dolphins joined us, and stayed with the boat for a loooooooong time. So we sort a forgot about the rhumb line, and watched and photoed dolphins. Still made it into Destin before dark, averaging right at five knots for the day. Going to spend another night here, and have a couple of boats coming from the east, should join us before dark. Tomorrow another offshore hop to Port. St.
Joe. About a 90 mile run. Weather is forecast to be more of the same as yesterday. Should be a really nice little trip, and our first overnight run. More to come.
