My wife, 2 sons (ages 2 & 9) and myself are just learning about sailing and the sailing life. Last year we bought a 24' American Mariner. Our stomping grounds for now is the Upper Lynn Canal and Southeast Alaska. We plan to upgrade to a live-a-board in the near future.

I use a pump up Sevylor Kayak for my Mac25 tender. This rolls up and is stored below. It takes only a few minutes to inflate with a low pressure high volume hand pump. They come in several sizes.

Ed, you have a lovely family and you're so lucky to raise them in a beautiful environment, As to a dink, look around you and see what the folks who have been there, use. When I arrived at St Thomas, I noticed that everyone used Carrib inflatables. Those who have gone before,have learned by trial and error.
