This is my third full season sailing. Started with a Com-Pac16 then a CP-19 and now I'm sailing a 1985 Seaward 22 by the name of Panacea. I've taken the ASA Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising classes. Looking next to take the Nav course then onto the Bareboat Charter.
In the mean time I'll be out sailing as much as I can.
Current location:
New Jersey
Destinations visited:
Nassau, Bahamas twice via the Disney Cruise Line, as well as Castaway Cay located near Great Abaco Island.
Looking to:
In the short term...Sail as much as work will let me. In a year or two...Bareboat Charter down on the Gulf Coast. When the kids are done college... Sail down to the Keys or as far as time, health and money will allow.
Hey, Kevin. Good to see you here! I notice that you are taking certification classes. You won't be sorry! I'm certified through Bareboat Cruising, and taking my first bareboat charter in September in the Chesapeake, sailing from Rock Hall, MD to Annapolis and back, chartering a 35 foot Hunter through Haven Charters. Let me know how your classes go!
Hoy Lou,
The class cost is about $360 and last the whole weekend. About a half day on Saturday in the classroom, then the rest of the time on the boat. Class size is four per boat so it is nice and personal.

"I had to replace my sheeve on both sides and really struggled to get the bolts out. Once I had them out, each was bent thus the challenge. I ended up stripping one or two of the hex bolts and used an angle grinder to square off the head of the bolt…"
The starboard side of my Traveller is starting to lift up. I am guessing to remove the center 5mm Allen bolt that goes through the middle of the sheeves, although I cannot get it to budge, to access it. Does anyone have any experience with this??Thanks Dave B43 Shore's AdriftSee More
