Wow, I can't believe it has been nearly ten days since my last entry. Most of the time is spent working as a school counselor, sailing Fast Lane, thinking about sailing my sunfish, working on SPRAY, sending e-mails, reading e-mails, polishing off my first big interview artiicle, and spending time with Sammi, swimming befoe dawn's early light, walking/jogging in the early evenings, sorting pictures, searching for my cell phone, keeping the house tidy, washing, ironing, driving, eating, cooking, shopping, and sleeping. Whew,

Next week-end a year's worth of training self and a novice crew to race the Lindenberg 28 will hopefully pay off. We have been practicing a lot these past few weeks with on emphasis on individual responsibilities, fine tuning maneavers, and becoming a team. Four of us original crew will celebrate our second time participating in the Melbourne Yacht Club's annual Mermaid Regatta on board Fast Lane. We have 3 coaches who continue to encourage us while providing specific
feeedback. Our first mate, Susan Jackson reminds us it is perfecting our sailing skills and not winning that we need to focus on. While the helmsman and tactician need to keep our heads out of the boat, the foredeck and cockpit crew need to keep their heads in the boat. A simple philosophy.

There is boat balance, sail trim, coordination between the foredeck and control central, focus, timing, hydration, communication, positioning, sighting, navigating, forecasting, planning, and apprecating all who make it happen including a God who endowed me with an addiction to chocolate and sailing rather than alcohol and heroine. . . .

in fact, sailing no longer feels like an addiction but just as natural and healthy as breathing. And when not sailing, I feel the lack of oxygen.... can't wait to hear about the race AND when and where your article is going to appear.
