It is 80 degrees today in Mickey Mouse Land today! YAY!!!
Last Friday morning I scraped ice off my windshield before I went to work. What a pain! I do not understand how anyone lives in a place where that would be normal. :) I live here BECAUSE I hate cold weather. And it has been darn cold the past 2 weeks, even here in THE BEST SAILING STATE IN THE US.
When I scraped ice off my window this past week I was reminded of when I was in college in north Texas. It DID snow there, of course. One time the whole town was snowbound and my friend, Bill, and I decided we HAD to have food. NOW. It was late at night, and there was at least 6 inches of snow on the ground and his car. He had a little VW beetle, so we used lighters to melt a circle big enough on the driver's side for him to see. Hey, he was from NYC! Then, we headed on out to the Taco Bueno where we got stuck in the drive through lane and Bill talked the 2 guys working inside into coming out and pushing us off [or to perfectly honest, slide us off]. It's not like they had a lot of customers!
Sailing on the "ditch" (slang for the Florida intercoastal; I just learned this...too cool!) this weekend was absolutely fabulous. Wind was consistently strong, and we sailed under the Cocoa Beach bridge and on down. Water is way low over there! The marina water is lower than it's been in 8 years. We had neglible rain over January, and are hoping for some this month....but it hasn't arrived yet.
I haven't blogged recently as the n key on my computer has DIED. There are certainly a lot of words with an N in them!!! I have a keyboard on order and my son will be replacing it the minute it arrives. I will post some pics of the sail later.
Stay safe and dry....
