SeaKnots

Can you believe my blog has been silent for two months? Where has the time gone? I know my job consumes 8 - 10 hours a day and I have sailed every Saturday and Sunday except one, but golly, gee whil a kers, the days are flying by.

To catch up we have a monohull practice scheduled for this Thursday night. Safey will be reviewed with a man overboard drill the priority. Without a chase boat, however, we will just use a throwable cushion or boat fender. Someone else suggested we pick up something like wet carpet to simulate the weight of picking up a crew member. Actually, we might can practice this at the dock with someone just jumping off the back of the boat. For safety we can tie a line to them. This past week-end two experienced skippers each lost a crew member overboard. One crew was new to sailing, while the other crew has had years of experience sailing with the same skipper. Overboard happens. My team will be prepared!

In other news, I'm eight pounds over my preferred weight. So, instead of writing I think I'll go for a bike ride. Why not? The weather is beautiful, my bicycle is in excellent shape, and it won't be dark for more than an hour. Sorry, this entry isn't too exciting, but it is good to get back in the groove. Now, it's time to work off those extra pounds, despite two days of intense sunfish sailing in 15-20 knots.

Cheers,
