Ex-US Navy harbor tugboat crew member. Rode tugs for entire Navy career (63-67) just like the one that was sunk. I rode a tug in Frisco that had been sunk 3 times. It's fairly common, although it's usually not made public. We were almost pulled over when we had a stern tow on a Jeep Carrier that was backing out faster than us, we had to cut the line with a fire ax to keep from rolling over.
