"Bird in the Rigging in early morning" 14 x 15 oil on paper on aluminum

these birds woke and flew off a moment after I spotted them. I don't think the boat owner loved them as much as I did. I drew the image on copper and pressed it into the surface of my gold-painted paper.

It is the starting that's the problem. It continues to be the problem even after years with making art as my job.

My mom loved to paint. She always painted in winter when my Dad would be out plowing snow. Loved the smell of the turp and linseed oil, snow falling outside. I think one needs the peacefulness to get inspired. My paints are probably dried with caps rusted in the box. Haven't opened in about 5 years.

What a cool painting this is.. Kay, you inspire me to get the brushes out again.
I had packed some art suppy into the boat last spring.. I looked at it a few times.. lol .. and never made one brush stroke.
It seemed I didn't have any peace this summer. We had so much rain, the bugs were bad and when we spent some time on Lake Huron it was so windy that we got blown around on achor for days at a time.. Yes, excuses..
I hope that this winter I can get inspired again.
