Going Places,
Meet my new acquaintance, Beryl. Lucky for me we were seat mates on our recent flight to Newark Airport. Upon hearing Beryl is a poet I asked her to write me a poem. On the spur of the moment this is rendition of the Significance of a Friend:
SIGNIFICANCE OF A FRIEND
Author: Beryl Ann Byron
Alone, again alone
Speaking to no one
Dining by self
Shopping to pass the time
Working, sleeping, praying for someone
To share, to laugh, to touch.
Then, so unexpected
She smiled and our eyes met
We sat enchanted with each other’s stories
Delighting in the exchange
And remembering the
SIGNIFICANCE OF A FRIEND
