There is something about the aromatic smell of coffee wafting into my senses that is such a comfort. Having only began to indulge about 7 years ago, it amazes me how many ways to brew it I have dismissed. Those new coffee in a pod, no fuss, no muss preparation and clean up is despicable. Sure, you can still get a caffeine rush, but where is the aroma to awaken your senses each morning. Then there is the fancy dancy French press. There is something conesouring about the process.

Put the coffee grinds on the bottom of the beaker. Add hot water. Wait a minute. Gentle stir. Wait another minute, then push the plunger down allowing the strainer to collect sands of coffee grinds under that stupid spring liking rim. While the coffee smells great, and has a soothing taste, cleaning the dean thing when you live on a limited water supplied boat creates a sore spot. If water was unlimited I would satisfy my yearning for the old fashioned percolator. Blub, blub blub...

Be that as it may, for $1.49 I found the perfect solution. Actually, my sister, Jane, the gal featured in yesterday's blog may the discovery for me. Using a plastic thing a am jig, I put an inexpensive table napkin on top of it. Spoon two tablespoons of my preferred coffee, then as you see in the pix, pour the steaming water on top.

Wow, not only was I able to make a single cup of coffee, the galley filled with the sounds of the old 'good to the last drop' commercial we all grew up with.

So, if you need your morning fix with limited resources and easy peavey clean up, this is the way to go....ay, life on a boat!
