I like to be on and around the water - I've a 21 foot Sirius sailboat - plus a bunch of other water craft that probably total about 80 feet at the water line when joined end on end (kayaks, canoes, sailboats, motorboats). Up until the last few years I've mostly been a day sailor and I'm now trying to build up my cruising experience through courses, charters and friends.
I heard about this site from Good Old Boat - and thought I'd check it out. I always enjoy hearing/reading about others adventures and experiences - and maybe I'll have some of my own to add someday.
You will see by my location that I am Canadian. And I offer this you tube video to help explain how we differ from our American cousins...eh:
Heading into the long Muskoka Canadian winter - just got the boat tucked away for winter.
Destinations visited:
Not much that's exotic - North Channel, Georgian Bay; Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia; Parry Sound, Georgian Bay; British Virgin Islands; Abacos, Arctic Ocean (but I didn't sail there, I took a ship...as a passenger...just seeing if you're paying attention).
Looking to:
Continue to add to my experience sailing - and meet others who enjoy sailing for fun.
Heading into the winter and planning my escape - a couple weeks in the BVIs - that should help make the winter pass a bit more quickly!
Thanks for the nice comment, Anne.
I too have been to Mahone bay. I love the East Coast and I'm very tempted on packing our old camper van to take off for down East . The only thing is.. I'd have to leave the boat behind.. sigh.. double sigh...
Have you been sailing yet??
We've been out a few times but now are worried about a diesel fuel spill into the Ottawa river. It was caused by a train de-railment in Mattawa near North Bay.
Hi Ann,
the boat is at it's slip in Arnprior, on the Ottawa river.
Sailing it east would be a pain... The CS is not big and solid enough for the gulf of St. Lawrence or the Atlantic.. sigh..
I read you on the weather. We've been out sailing a few time and always came back home early because of the rain and cold.
We're hoping to sail the North Channel out of Spanish late July, early August.
