My Different Drummer is located in St Thomas. Will you be coming down here to the Virgin Islands?

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."
  • foster

    hello,
have you any information on rudder failure and the lack of fixation of the autopilot tablet in the B 43 ?

By the way I am near Barcelona? When will you arrive there ?

Hi, Not too thrilled with new "chat"....hard to navigate, server down now 1152?
  • Randy

Hello, I sent you an email about not being able to find the chat. Well I found it , but it keeps disconnecting, I know others are frustrated as well, are you able to go back to the old one, Or was there like a bandwidth issue?
  • zeehag

was wondering of server is reason my music wont play?? sound isnt coming thru----worked when i installed it---i checked it--then the chat thing happened at same time---is that reason for my music being silent??
  • Harvey Levesque

Yes, I'm here(Salinas) now, are you still in Ponce?
  • Deborah

Let me know which part of the island you anchor in, or if you come in to a marina. the island is not that big, but the areas are quite separate. I live on the East End, and nothing is far as it is only 13 miles long, but it takes awhile to get around.
  • Deborah

I just might be able to do that. The NOAA research Ship BOLD is having an open house from 3:30 to 5 pm on Thursday and I am trying to arrange a trip with some friends to see it. The public is welcome, if that suits your fancy.
  • Deborah

Depends on the make/mfg. etc. If no one at the marina office has any other sugggestion, you can try Island Rigging & Hydraulics. They are nearby, and the phone is 774 6833. If they cannot help you, they will probably have another suggestion for you.

I will try and find you Thursday. Would be fun to see you.

Your welcome. Our plan (everybody's got a plan right?) is to liveaboard, somewhere from TX to FL, work for X period of time, sail or sabbatical for X period of time. During our sabbatical along with enjoying sailing we are planning on volunteering where ever we can. Makes life just a little sweeter don't yah think?

Remember, the difference between an adventure and an ordeal is attitude,

    Hi Franc & Andrea,
Peter and I have been enjoying your blog! Dick (his brother) and Carlyn are following your trip too, and it's bringing back fond memories for them, from when they did this trip. They had similar experiences. By the way, their boat is currently in Grenada.
We're counting down the days til "Norma'l Sea" is back in the water!
    Happy travels..
  • YACHTASEA

Happy Sunday in the Caribbean! We had a thought...Will you be in the BVI for the 2009 BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival? This year it is March 30 to April 5 www.springregatta.org/

Anchor at Trellis Bay for a FULL MOON Party. The dates are on the website below: Click on the MOON. : )

  • Gran Azul

Hi Franc!! Regretfully we are not in the BVI's anymore. We are back in St Martin, just joined the Heineken Regatta on a catamaran and made a third position. Our boat Heritage is still in Hodges Creek, Tortola. Enjoy the islands... We are flying to BArcelona this week.. Will keep you posted about our moves!!!

  • YACHTASEA

While anchored at Trellis Bay for the Full Moon Celebration dinghy or jump on the shuttle boat to Marina Cay & walk to the top - join in on the "Conch Blowing Contest" - Christopher Jr was crowned "King Conch" on Marina Cay. You can also anchor for a night at Marina Cay. Do you have time to travel to Anegada? A few more BVI highlights - Anchor at The Baths, Virgin Gorda, and walk through the boulder "Maze", have lunch at the Top of The Baths. Peter Island - anchor at Deadman's Beach or dock at Sprat Bay Marina. Peter Island has one of the best Spas in the world! Try to visit The Spa at Peter Island -http://www.peterisland.com/spawelcome.html
Rejuvenate your senses! Have a fresh cocnut rub, together, it's perfect for the "wind-swept skin"!
Sail to the North Sound of Virgin Gorda to anchor at The Bitter End Yacht Club, by 1:00 to grab a mooring, dinghy to discover Biras Creek, a "best kept secret" that can only be reached by water, (we LOVED it here!) walk to the top of the Biras Creek Resort, before returning to your boat, dinghy to The Fat Virgin Cafe to dine on genuine island cuisine. (Great for lunch. Conch & island spices.)
Anegagda is worth the venture. (Mother Nature's Coral Reef) Anchor & dinghy to shore. Make a dinner reservation at the Anegada Reef Harbour Hotel & Grill on the beach before you begin your day discovering the island. (The daily entree is cooked on the beach.) You will be eating family style that night with other sailors & yachtsmen. (A great time for stories!) Snorkel at Loblolly Beach & rest in a hamock hanging in the island trees.
Norman Island - the Caves & Willy T! (Be sure to visit the Willy T at night.)
When will CAN DRAC be sailing through the BVI?

It's funny you should ask. It's will be any week now before the big day. I was hopefully yesterday that spring was in the air with temps in the mid 60's. Today, however, was a different tune with a laspe back into winter with snow on the ground. Although at these point of your trip you may have forgotten the anxiety that comes with the end of winter since you managed to avoid it this year. Hope you are doing well and wish you the best!
  • S Hedman

Thanks! Almost as nice as yours :-)
  • Novella

I ended up on the North Pier slip #35 which isn't bad for my first year there. You should stop on by anytime after Memorial Day.

  • Michael Boyle

    Hi
Thanks for welcome. Will have some photos soon. Trying to get steering wheel locks. Beneteau stopped fitting 6 months ago. Goiot make steering---which there is excessive play in port wheel--on the list--and refuse to reply to email. Assume they are holiday like rest of France.
    regards
    Michael

Most uncomfortable in a marina ..is it any better anchored off? Want to bring my boat over to the Costa Brava in 2 years time but have to figure out how to keep cool and how to keep the mosquitoes at bay! All advice welcome!
  • Kate O Donovan
