Go for the journey, adventure and great friends! I have never gotten seasick. Pretty seaworthy. Helped out on a 3 day delivery from Miami to Cape Fear, NC as a cook/bottle washer on a 65 ft Irwin. Would love to be of assistance again and experience more great adventures!
Well now I've just finished with traveling over 2,500 nautical miles thru the Med and down to Cape Verdes. Quite an adventure. Still never got seasick!
With my skipper Dan I work on our little ship ORKUN - SWELL I You can get an impression of the tendency on our ship here: Moments on the ORKUN - SWELL I
On a Gulet can stay overnight up to 12 persons. In roomy 6 double cabs with own bath & toilet you can recover yourself from the stress.
A Gulet is a sailsboat usually made from wood. Gulets were built since the Antique in Karien (particularly in Bodrum and Marmaris) and were over thousands of years the type of ships for the trader from the Amphora, who carried olives, wine and many other precious goods along the Turkish coasts. The wooden building ships are admired for the warmth and great atmosphere compared with the common plastic boats.
As I also do a videoblog about good food and wine, you are welcome to join my group Charlottenburg Cuisine at GREAT COOKS.
We made a episode on our ship. As we think good food and wine is part of great sailing expiriences:
Hello Kathe, if ever you arein the Wash DC area I would love to have you come down and crew on a beneteau 50 for an afternoon or an overnighter if you are interested, I really do have problems getting crew, (and no I do not have a teper if anything I am pretty laid back) Ron
HI K. SORRY I MISSED YOU. I'M ALSO A NURSE (LMH, SOUTHWEST REG, HOME CARE). I LEFT FM (& THE USA) IN MAY WITH BEQUIA AS A DESTINATION. AFTER SEVERAL DELAYS IN MARATHON & NASSAU, I MADE IT BACK TO GEORGE TOWN. THIS LOOKS SAFE FOR A WEATHER HIDING SPOT SO I PLAN TO HOOK HERE FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER THEN HEAD S TO THE CARIB.
I SAILED TO HERE WITH 2 NURSE FRIENDS, MIKE & LISA BARTHOLOMEW, IN '03 ON OUR BOATS. SHE IS A NURSE IN PEDS @ HEALTH PARK. I'M LOOKING FOR A PARTNER TO JOIN ME IN MY ADVENTURE. ARE YOU GAME?
ROD

GOOD DAY, MATE
I want to Thank you all.. I spent the day at the boat...did all your advice, bimini down, double lined, carry on air cond is in foot locker, all loose inside secured, tied over the sail covers...did not take sails down..but are really tied secure., put out extra fenders...Advice at the Marina...they wanted lines tight. It has floating docks. Sea cocks closed, auto bilge is on...left shore elec on....The Marina folks said this is all for nothing...they all are doing nothing.
With 3 Hurricanes, I don't want to take a chance...I need to spend tomorrow putting my ply wood up at my house. The RV is ready, and I will leave if things get bad here in NC. Boat is at Little River, SC. My house is at Ocean Isle NC
I will post a photo of my ready for the storms boat soon....Thanks again...Please continue to post, You have very good advice and experience to share.
So, Capt Steve,
You plan on coming down my way? I've never sailed on a Cat before but I have been on them at the boat shows every year. My dream boat is the Lagoon 440. As I said, $$dream.

Great to hear from you Kathe! Yes, we live very close. I know from your awesome pics you have stories to tell, smiles. Love those. I have a few stories and pics to share too! Joni in Largo
I want to go to Strictly Sail up here too, however, I have read that it is a combined deal this year, the St. Pete Boat Show and Strictly Sail. Have you heard that too? Joni in Largo
I live in Ft Myers on my Allied Princess Ketch (hopefully she will be back in the water by then), but I too wish to attend the St. pete Boat Show. I am currently house-sitting a place in Cape Coral until repairs are completed to Cayo Mio.
When are you going to the show and would you like to meet-up. I can offer a place to crash as well if you don't mind sharing space with Queen Olivia, my galpal boat pug. ou will have privacy and I can cook too.
I'm working diligently to get Cayo Mio back in the water so I can go voyaging again soon. I'm hoping to go to the Dry Tortugas in January, unless I book a delivery to Spain.
Let me know if you have any interest and we can meet-up to discuss possibilities. great pics, by the way..

PS: Where is Treasure Island, and are there other treasures beside you there?,
Now I am REALLY intreagued (sp). Where is the condo and when do you want to go sailing. Cayo Mio should be back at Ft Myer's City Yacht Basin by late next week.
So what type of crew are you? Are you passenger, fluff or working?> I don't mean to insult you; I just want to know so I can plan accordingly. I am looking for crew to help me get to to the Dry Torutgas for a long weekend of snorkeling, etc.
There is a possibility of a 6 week passage opportunity to Spain in mid January. If it happens I will go, and I suppose that tells you what type of sailor I am. Cayo Mio ISN'T "waterfront property" even though Queen Olivia and I live aboard under "normal" circumstances.
Dear Kathy;
Please send me a e-mail address and i will send more info.
If you are seriously interested send a phone # and I will call on my dime.

The appetizer is tagliatelle putanesca. As a main course we serve cod filets provencale style and for dessert we serve baked pears in a rosé-honey sauce. Enjoy!
