About Me:
I'm one of those who has spent the better part of their life dreaming of living the cruising life - and now I'm doing it! I've been sailing for 38 years with work interrupting my sailing dreams regularly and often. Now my daughter is out of school and it's my time to play. I'll be leaving Annapolis 12/10 and heading south on the ICW on "Walden", my Hans Christian 38. I hope to spend some time in the Bahamas and then probably claw on down to the Leewards, via Bruce Van Sant's instructions. I'm doing this single handed but am probably going to appreciate crew at times.
Current location:
Annapolis
Destinations visited:
Although scattered over 38 years, I've had great opportunities for both coastal and offshore sailing. I really wish that I would just remember all of the lessons that I've learned. My sailing includes Southern Calif, extensive playing out on the SF Bay (what a ride!), English Channel and Cowes Week (no, I am not a grinder), Puget Sound and the San Juans (aren't the Orcas wonderful!), BVIs, Antigua, Barbuda, Martinique and deliveries from Texas to Key West as well as four from Bermuda to the islands (one aborted - a partially great story). But there is so, so much more to see.
Looking to:
My plans and life change every few hours, but currently my plans are to get to the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean this season and to do the "hurricanes" back in Annapolis or down in Trinidad to repair all of the damage I will inflict on my poor boat. After that I may spend one more season in the Caribbean or, who knows, do the Atlantic or the big canal to the South Seas - Hey, dreams are free --- although making them happen isn't :-( I'd love to hear from anyone with advice about the lower ICW (NC and south) as it relates to my draft of 6-6.

    Hey Bill!!

Classy boat and a classy lady. You are really my hero now ;-) If only I could be more like you. Thank you for being my friend, and let's figure out how to sail together again.

The passage with Franc was good for me, and made me re-realize tat I haven't yet done enough to change either my attitudes or life style. If I am successful at that then the right lady will come along as well. Before the trip I was just happy having moved from Boston to SW Florida, aand it is a big accomplishment to be sure. But it isn't anywhere near far enough to where I want to be.

So stay in touch and if I can help get you to the Bahamas or even further south let me know and I'll work my calendar.

Hope you are having a good passage. Stay warm!

So: where are you these days? Did you make it to warmer waters before this cold wave hit the North East?

    Hey Bill,

What's up guy? Are you still in Marathon???

It seems I damaged the prop shaft coming ack from Marathon, but a reallignment has resolved MOST of the vibration. Nonetherless, the shaft will have to be repaired/replaced on her next haulout. Obviously I don't have the money to doit now.

Give me a "jingle" and bring me up to date.
