Nice meeting you Gail! And congratulations on Norma'l Sea! I saw her at the docks in Riverside (nice dodger, by the way). If you are ever in the NY Harbor, let us know and we can get together. Enjoy her. She sails like a beast!!

Fork-ed River? Whereabouts? I used to keep my boat at Southwinds, and winter at Tall Oaks/Silver Cloud. Why not come up to Newport Marina in Jersey City where the action is?

    Hi Gail,

Sorry we can't help with your request as we only ventured over near Barnegat Light when on our way outside.

We also were in the Forked River for a few years. A couple at Rivers Edge Marina, then one year at the state marina before a few at Silver Cloud.

We're out and about now so we're not in the area at this time but can put you in touch with some of the members of the Tall Oaks Yacht Club which is based in the state marina. You may be able to get the info you seek from them.

Its also a cheap club to join and they do a few local trips every season. If you haven't been to the fireworks in Toms River you've really got to consider it.

    Gail,
Spoke to Dave about Friday etc. He thought leaving around noon would be good. Get up there around 2 sometime. He said the three of us can raft up, no problem. He said that he knows a cove or two on the right had side for anchoring that would be good. He said getting into Toms River in the beginning could be tricky. He said you have to go up to the higher maker and work your way back. I said if we can, we would follow him in. After you get past the shallow spots it gets up to 7 to 9 feet deep. I'm going to check my charts tonight. We talked about rafting up and then splitting up and he said the reason people do that is becuase 99% of the people leave after the fire works. He said it's actually quite a site to see. He said staying rafted up would be good.

As far as food. He said he'll do anything the group wants to do. Buy food together, seperate whatever. If you think about it, if we leave at noon or before then we are all responsible for lunch on our own. We have dinner which we can do together or seprate and then after that is snacks and then breakfast we are on our own. He also has a new Marqarita machine he wants to use. Do you and pete drink them?

Let me know your thoughts. But that's what my buddy dave says.

Not sure. We have a wedding Friday night but we might come late in the day Saturday or Sunday. Not sure. Nothing should get in the way of sailing. Are you guys going down this weekend?
  • Bob P

    Gail,

How did you and Pete weather thru the storm? We fell asleep. When we got up we hoped you were still their but you had left. We were going to invite you to dinner. Pat bought hamburgers and hotdogs and we had food with your new budd dave and one or two other people. I should have said something on the phone. Sorry. It looks like we'll be down next week end and hopefully we'll catch up. Did I post this Right?

Had a great holiday. Bill came Christmas Eve. Also, my son and new wife and his dgt. were here. We had a family reception for them at the local CC. Very well done.
Bill's dad had a stoke (92 ys old) He is in s rehab at the moment and Bill's mom will move to an assited living (also 92). She is in great shape and still a very pretty woman. Needless to say, Bill has been running around in circles managing their finances. He is planning to sell his house and buy theirs. A 2 bedroom cottage. Poor Bill, he needs to really downsize (lots of clutter to deal with) from a 4 bedrm 2 bath in Medford. Bill's email is capbillh@verizon.com
    Have a Happy New Year

    Gail,

Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope all is well. Pat and I were just talking about you, Peter and the rest of the crew. Pat wants to get together sometime in January at the Captains Inn with everyone. We'll send an email out. What do you think?
