Let me introduce our Tinker Belle the wonder dog. A 6 year old Chihuahua, Yorkie and Carin Terrier (the vet thinks). As you can see she's not an early riser and when the seas get rough we put her in her carrier so she can "bark" out orders and not get stepped on.
I now KNOW I am challeneged, but I still haven't been able to post pics of Queen Olivia, the pre-eminent boat PUG in the world, to this page. So, dear, what am I doing wrong.
Thanks for doing that as Olivia is kind of special to me. She's been my best pal (sometimes my only pal) for over 6 years now so we are inseparable as you might imagine. She never fails to bring a smile to those around her wit her great disposition.
So I'm not sure I understand if they are finally fully posted, but if not please do so. Thanks and where will you be the beginning of August?

I have a question about "potty training" an older pet. Olivia is 7 years old and is well "house trained", that's a good thing, right. She's a trooper and unless she is fighting the run can hold everything for 24 hours which is far better than me!! Onthe way south we stopped every day/night to give her a chance to do her "business" somewhere ashore.
But if you want to take an offshore cruise how do you "untrain" her to go somewhere in the cockpit? I've tried pee pads, paper, etc; but nothing seems to work. I don't want to have her hurt herself by waiting too long or causing other medical issues.
We faced a similar issue with our Tinker Belle. She would hold it for 30+ hours. Our vet said "no worry" she'll go when she needs to. We weren't too comfortable with that answer. We decided to use puppy pads. We put two down below and worked patiently with her for a couple months and finally she did it! Much praise followed! She was so proud of herself! Now when we get ready to depart an anchorage, we leave her down below. I start the engine and we retrieve the anchor and get underway. We go below and she has done everything and is wagging her tail as if to say "OK, I'm good to go"!
Can you place something under her when she goes on shore, and save it? wet or other, and smear it in the boat or on the deck? where you want her to do it. I have heard of indoor/outdoor carpet pad to do to. Then you drag it on a line in ocean to clean it off then put back on deck?
We cat owners use litter boxes...could a dog use one?
We tried everyting you could think of to get our 2 dogs to go on board. We got weathered in in the Alligator River with absolutely no place to take them.
I snapped their leashes on them and walked them to the bow. I said lets go outside, that combined with the leashes and having held it for over a day triggerd the event. We sat there together at the bow for 30 minutes the first time with no luck but after their next feeding they HAD to go. We did the leash thing, went outside and the miracle of poop happened for us up on the bow.
We followed it up with a ridiculous amount of praise. They hit the foredeck now all on their own whenever the need arises. Our dogs were 7 and 12 when they learned it was okay to go "outside"
Doggy business...
We anchor offshore and dinghy them in several times a day. My chihuahua is little more than a puppy and get distracted if there are other dogs or people around when we land and often won't do her 'stuff'' so when get back on board it is safer to leave a puppy pee pee pad down below and she will use it. I feel guilty if they hold it too long. Kalena
