Hey Teo ...where might one find Elixer strings ...ive never heard of them ? Sounds like a great idea for guitars that reside onboard ...the enemy that I am discovering to be a bit bad for them too is the humidity and heat...still ...nothing like retuning all the time to keep you in practice...lol

Classical guitars are good, less prone to rust, but i prefer steel sting. Elixer strings are coated and last ages at sea, they are twice the price, but save you changing the strings 3 times.

Well ....while I do have a guitar onboard ..I must say the strings have been getting a little rusty of late ...it seems that "real world" issues (w-o-r-k) keep getting in the way.hehe. I used to play quite a bit of Country...some older 70's music (C.C.R. , Pure Prairie League,etc..etc)....and as much blues as I could..which seems to still be my favorite today. I miss my ole Gretch 6 string ..but I traded her in back in the 80's for a Yamaha, re-keyed with Grover keys & a modded neck...don't ask ...lets just say it plays well & the Gretch was in need of some really major TLC on the main bridge! I break out the Yammer every once in awhile ..just to keep a callous or two going .....hehe....I suppose if there were other jammers here in our Marina, we would probably jam it up a little! Cool idea for a group btw!

Although the boat may be the last place I carry my fiddle, it does go along w/ me as a carry on,,,no guitar, yet I reckon, I will just have to sing along with yall.

Crafters ....... great guitar actually made by Honer ( the harmonica people ) . has a plastic back like the Ovation, but not rounded so it doesn't slip off your lap. I play a little bit of everything ..... mostly folk & some rock ...... am trying to learn more blues, but will probably have to go to the crossroads & sell my soul to the devil !!!

My BC Rich and my harmonicas are always with me. Nothing like the acoustics in a bay. Yes, I do the banjo, but I have never brought it on the boat yet.

Like the profile says, the guitar goes where I go (usually my trusty Yamaha). Thanks for the invite, Franc. Let's see how many pickers are out on the water. (And maybe, just maybe, the group can be flexible enough to include the occasional banjo or mandolin picker as well, should there be any.)

Sailed many years with my Yamaha and over 25 years with my Guild 6 string. Never know when you need it.
