Anyone else have a nextgen 3.5 installed? I have one on my 43 and would like to start a discussion if sufficient interest.

OK, I am posting this as it may be useful in general and not just for NextGen owners.

I was experiencing a low water flow condition on my generator, I looked into the full system from the thru-hull , connecting hoses, strainer, raw water pump(impeller and overall condition). I circulated Barnacle Buster through the heat exchanger. I back flushed every hose and flow system. Ultimately my low water flow was found to be caused by the water side of the mixing elbow. The next gen has a concentric pipe within a pipe that has the water enter the annular area through a welded on nipple, with the exhaust gas routed through the inner pipe. The nipple and the annular area was totally clogged with a whitish looking caclification. Removed the exhaust elbow and soaked for about an hour in Barnacle buster and rinsed regaining full low.

So, I now consider this a maintenance item for removal / cleaning ecery couple of years. This had been in use since late 2012, but with only a couple hundred hours on the unit.

Just sharing boating thoughts on this cold January day.......

"Auto ascending setup is an interesting idea, though it takes a bit of fiddling around to get it right. Once it's dialed in, it actually works quite well."

"Michael, From experience over three keel boats a fully battened main is almost a requirement. Not only will it make dropping the sail into the boom bag far easier it certainly reduces any flogging and vastly lengthens the life of the sail. While…"
