Dan, the boat already has grey canvas on her. She was the Annapolis Boat Show boat and they all had the same color. Skip Lippincott in Riverside, NJ did the work and will do more for us by spring time. In looking for a graphics color that would go with the grey and be something other than the typical blues and greens. Burgandy it will be. BTW I saw Tania in the pictures as well as your mention of her. What's the relationship?

Thanks Mike. Much appreciated. We went round and round over the color choice, and I had to convince my wife. She defintely was more inclined to go the more traditional navy blue route. But I'm glad we went with the burgundy. We used The Canvas Store in Huntington, NY for the canvas. They were absolutely great in all respects, and I would highly recommend them. If you go that route, ask for Rebecca and tell her I referred you. The trip to Bermuda was great, and full of adventure needless to say. Tania and I are doing the rally again this coming June, and hopefully it will be equal to last year's event!

Dan, great pics of Another Miracle. I like your color choice for the canvas and lettering. We have a new 43 and I was leaning towards using burgandy letters, now I'm convinced I will. BTW looks like a very nice trip to Bermuda.

Thanks Rick. I responded over on Sailnet. I just can't do the arch at this point, though in retrospect maybe it would have been something we should have given more consideration.

Dan,

If it's not too late go with a Beneteau arch. Much stronger set-up than davits. These boats don't lend themselves to davits too well. Beneteau has arches for the 423 and 473. I put a 423 arch on my 393 and it carries a 10'06" AB Lite and 15hp Yamaha and all sorts of junk quite well. Lots of discussion on this at the 393 site.

Anyone have pictures of one of the new Benes with a dink on davits?

We're in the process of having Edson davits installed on our B49, and the dilemna is that due to the transom setup, the davits must be vary far apart, which means either you need a huge dink, or the lifting tackle is going to pinch inboard, if you can picture what I mean. Stated another way, the davit arms are going to be wider than the dinghy, so the davit lifting tackle is going to go from the davit arm towards the dinghy at an inward turning angle. From what I can surmise, this is going to chafe the tubes on the dink or possibly just cause some other problems. So with that, does anyone have or know the location of any pix of a new Bene with the dink on davits? I want to see how this is going to work.

Thanks all,

DG

Hi, I'm Rick from Toronto. In 2003 I went down to Charleston to help a friend sail his new 423 to Florida. We were in Charleston for a few weeks for the commissioning and I crawled through a lot of Beneteaus during that time and ended up getting a 393 myself. I've been cruising from Toronto to the Bahamas since 1990 and was getting a bit tired of the long trip home every spring and was thinking of basing a boat in the southern US. I still have the boat I had before I bought the Beneteau, a CS36 Merlin which I got in 1988. "La Belle Aurore" took me south eight times but she only stays in Lake Ontario now. My 393, "Breathless" has never been north of Charleston. I've spent four winters on her now, sailing in the Bahamas.

I have been cruising aboard a 423 from Texas to Venezuela without any major problem and it is time for someone else to enjoy her as much as I did for the last
3 years. For sale @http://www.caribbeanyachtbroker.com/
