Ok folks, anyone know what this is? I saw it on a 1983 beneteau 11,5 m IDYLLE, There is one on each side. The top hole is threaded and the bottom one in the plate is a blind hole( no threads).

Our new B40 emits bad odors from the holding tank vent on the starbopard side of the hull. No odors in the cabin, but when we sail and the wind blows it's pretty bad, and coming only from the starboard side. The tank is not full--no liquid is coming out, just odors. On our prior Beneteau we used a product in the holding tank called KO--Kills Odors--and it worked fine; same product on the new boat doesn't help at all. Any suggestions?

I'm particularly interested in serious problems that may be expensive to repair down the road. As background, we had been focusing on the Sabre's, but now believe the Beneteau will give us a lot more boat for the money. We plan to do mostly coastal cruising with a trip or two from Virgin Islands to the States. Thanks

I hope to be the proud owner of a Beneteau Oceanis 411 in the near future. I'm looking for ideas on how to go about installing an arch whose purpose would be to provide a mounting surface for 2 or 3 solar panels. For example, do you recommend a custom design or store bought one from Beneteau? If from Beneteau what kind of mods are required? If anyone has pics they would be greatly appreciated. If the cost of an arch is too great we may go with a simple pole and wind generator.…

I have always wondered if SSB is really worth it, when Coastal Cruising, thoughts? comments? ideas?, I have used SSB for things like weather fax and emails when offshore.

Hi all!
I'm new to Seaknots and Beneteau corner but thought I would throw this out there. I have an 1995 Oceanis 440. This is our 5th season with her on the Great Lakes and will be our 4th season cruising all summer (late June to Sept.). We love the boat and she performs well in all aspects of extended cruising but for one thing. I find that I need to defrost the freezer weekly. I have fortified the lid seal and have lined the inside of the chamber with additional styrafoam which has helped a little but not what I thought it should be. I keep it turned to max cold which results in temps 4 to 11f. I find I am constantly needing to readjust the fridge side which ofcourse pulls its cold from the freezer. If the freezer is frosting from drawing the moisture from the fridge then there's probably no cure but I'm in hopes someone else has encountered this situation and resolved it. Would love to hear about it.
I currently own a Catalina 27 with a 3' 6" draft, which is the max allowed in my marina (which we love). I would like to move up to a larger boat and understand Beneteau has a few models in the 30 to 35 foot range with a keel/centerboard option that offers a draft of under 3' 6".

Anyone have any experience with this option and how the boat performs?

Hi All-

There are so many options out there. I was wondering what options or upgrades you added to your Beneteau that you are happy with and if there are any that you thought were a good idea at the time but could really live without.
