SeaKnots

I'm looking for input on where the best places are to live/sail. Where one might have great sailing as well as a community of like minded people and others in which to serve/volunteer. I "retired" in my late 40's from a life at high altitude to help both parents in turn to "step to the other-side" and am coming back to my first love "sailing".

I moved to Lopez, one of the San Juan Islands thinking I'd meet other sailors. Lopez is an Island of extreme organic gardeners which is a bonus as the produce is fabulous, but there are a few sailors here that share my passion. Any suggestions?

Out of nineteen years, two years at Ke'ehi Marine Center and the rest at Ala Wai Boat Harbor.
Thanks for all the replies. I must admit the San Juan Islands feel like a dream. There are lifetimes of sailing exploration to be had up and down the coast, so many islands and inlets and you can sail here year round ~ not half as cold as ice climbing in Colorado! Once I get my own boat and get out on the water I'm sure I'll meet other obsessed sailors in time. Moving here not knowing a soul has been a challenge but the folks here are really friendly.

The places you all live and have sailed sound interesting and I hope someday I can get out to see some of them.

Cheers to the unknown!
