SUMMARY:Fundy Flotilla August 14 -28 Maine to Canadian Maritimes
DESCRIPTION:With Spring in the air and boating season close behind, yo
ur members might like to be reminded of this summer's Fundy Flotilla,
which since 1999 has provided an escorted way for New England boaters
to cruise from Maine to our nearby neighbors in the Canadian Maritimes
. The dates for this summer's cruise are Aug. 14-28, and the destinati
on will be the St. John River in New Brunswick, with shorter visits at
Cutler, Grand Manan, and St. Andrews. The cruise leaves from Northeas
t Harbor and returns at Eastport.\n\nThe Fundy Flotilla is one of the
activities put on by Points East Magazine to encourage New England boa
ters to use their boats more and to stretch their boating horizons. Ot
her such activities are the annual spring Crew Match parties and the w
orkshops and seminars conducted during the off-season.\n\nI'm the orga
nizer of the cruise, and I hope you'll take the time to post the attac
hed information on your club's bulletin board or in your newsletter. I
realize many clubs aren't open yet, and therefore the easiest way of
getting the word out may be just with a short blurb in your newsletter
. Just the dates and the itinerary would be sufficient:\n\nFundy Floti
lla, Aug. 14-28\nNortheast Harbor, Cutler\nGrand Manan, St. John River
 , St. Andrews\nEastport\nInformation at www.pointseast. com\n\nIf you'
ve cruised to New Brunswick, Canada, you know the joys of the experien
ce. If you haven't done so yet, here's what cruising guide author Roge
r Duncan has written:\n“Lots of American yachtsmen talk about going
to Saint John, and many have been there; but no great number actually
make it in any one year, so the hospitality of the Saint John yachting
community is not abused and their eagerness is so far undimmed. Besid
es, anyone who will bring a yacht from Massachusetts or Connecticut th
rough the tortuous channels of Maine and by the tide-scoured, fog-ridd
en coast of New Brunswick in the sure knowledge that he will probably
have to beat all the way back again – such a man will represent the
best of New England Yachtsmen and will be welcome wherever he goes.”
\n\nThank you in advance for your consideration in helping me publiciz
e this opportunity for your members to experience the joys of cruising
to new ports of call with Points East's Fundy Flotilla. It's a way to
not only see new places and meet new people, it's also a way to make
new friends and expand one's horizon\n\nFor more information visit htt
