Hello,

Has anyone upgraded the Hitachi OEM alternator to a high output one with a serpentine pulley kit ?

We currently have a Mastervolt 90 A with an alphapro regulator driven with a single v belt, I think it slips a little and was looking for an upgrade to automotive type serpentine pulley system.

Thank you.

Hi Denis,

I have a Victron Monitor on the Lithium Batteries.  Its measurements seem appropriate as far as amps drawn, amp hours remaining, voltage etc.  I don't have a temperature control for the alternator (but highs and lows are monitored within the lithium set up.)

Tachometer RPM is an interesting approach I'd not previously considered, and don't remember what kind of control I have access to.

Rassy 46 sounds like a nice swap from your B43.  Do you have any comparison postings already out?

Thanks for your input.

Bob, have you consulted ElectroMaax? Lithium batteries have a different charging pattern and it's possible you need to set up the regulator accordingly.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, They know me quite well at ElectroMaax!  At the time I bought their alternator, they didn't have a unique lithium solution.  It was common at the time to program the Balmar as close as you could using the traditional battery types.  I think they might have a newer, even in-house regulator which would more precisely accommodate lithium set ups.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Bob
