I have a 2010 French made 43 with teak deck, guard rail and adjustable genoa car. A leak has occurred that manifests from the forward of the two 240 sockets into the locker in front of the nav table. It also appears behind the rear socket on the shelf above instrument panel locker. I have re tightened the genoa car track but still leaking.
A. Any ideas of where it is entering
B. Has anyone ever tightened the stations or guard wire gate.
C. Ideas for how to find leak from deck.

The fibre glass lining seems to go uninterrupted to the forward bulkhead and leak could drip onto to it anywhere and travel to above chart table which seems lowest point. Worst when heavy rain and as rarely sailed this year in heavy weather water always tastes pure ie not salt.

Help please

We have had a leak in heavy rain or big seas at the STBD stays base plate. Although it drips down the chain plate rod it is a possibility. Not sure this is your problem but you can access it by removing the small cover held in place by velcro.

I have tightened the lifeline stanchions but because they were loose not leaking. The hardware is reached through the inside top of the lockers. Sorry I cannot remember the size of the hardware.

Good luck water leaks can be tough to find.

Mike

Thanks Mike,
Weather has been dry here in UK but am having boat out for an insurance repair(Dutch sailors normally don't have to contend with tides---4kn through marina) so will work my way from stern with a hosepipe and see if I can locate where the water is coming in. Fat hands finding it difficult to reach stantion nuts but will persevere. The stays cover plate seems ok but hose pipe may prove otherwise.
For interest I took traveller blocks apart as they were a little stiff. The stainless threaded inserts in the aluminium base plate had corroded slightly with galvanic action and caused slight swelling that was impeding the blocks.
Harsh environment the ocean. But fun.
