Am aspiring sailor. Wish to make 'homeport' in general, the Grenadines and the BVI
About Me:
Older, educated guy here - artist and photographer. Am in the process of scrapping everything and inventing a whole new life in the Caribbean. In the past have lived in various parts of the region - St. Vincent, Bequia, Virgin Gorda, and in the Western Carribean, Providencia, Co.. While i have adequate funds for life there, these do not meet requirements for permanent residency in the Eastern Caribbean. So my plan for the moment is to spend six months in the Grenadines, six months in the BVI. While it is less than perfect, this admirable mobility will overcome the 'same old, same old' factor. Of course, mating for a live-on skipper, or care-taking a yacht year-round would accomplish the same end. In fact, should i stumble onto the right situation, it is not impossible seagoing could become a continuing way-of-life. Email: seize_freedom@yahoo.com.

Looking to:
Looking to hook-up with a live-on skipper in need of a ship mate and some genial company. Otherwise, will be seeking yachtsmen for deckhand work, allowing me to bum about the caribbean at will. Right or wrong, the most southerly Windwards seem the least punished by hurricanes of the eastern islands. So i expect to spend June - Dec. in the Grenadines, Dec - June in the BVI. In 1984, after my second divorce, I decided I needed a vacation. I went to St Croix for a learn-to sail charter. It was an epiphany. At 36, I discovered that I was born a sailor. I swore to myself that someday I would return in my own boat. It took me twenty years and two boats to do it.

Do you have a captain's license? That would be a big advantage to getting a position on a yacht.

haha Thanks Tom! But right now there's no raging happening....rather a lot of laughter as I wonder what have I gotten myself into! My boat Lizzie needs lots of TLC and elbow grease, but she and I are working together and making progress little by little. As Lola commented, the photos on your page are beautiful.
