Unruffling Your Feathers

I get up this morning to read my e-mails and am immediately angered by someone misinterpretting something that was said. Admittedly I argued with myself as to whether I am splitting hairs or dealing with semantics. Either way, with my feathers ruffled, I wrote several seething e-mails, then deleted them when I realized I wasted my swimming hour steaming over trivial matters.

Now, on a more positive side. . .

In my last post I lamented about the challenges of selecting compatable crew. Having had three team members seek greener pastures, I was torn between frustration and disappointment. The disappointment arose when I questioned for a moment the consequences of my behavior which led to a divorce from a trio I had come to care about. "My hose clamps also needed tightening last year after I overheated the engine after an impeller failure. I assumed it was because the hose expanded or the clamp was not tightened properly when the boat was built. Final-Lee Ben. 40, hull 182"

water in sump near shaft packing gland

I recently found water in the sump aft of the engine under the packing gland. Of course my first suspicion was the Volvo gland, but turns out that the water was coming from the entry to the water lift muffler. Tightening both hose clamps stopped the leak. I had never checked those clamps before as they were a bit out of the way, but I suggest that its worth the effort. I found that the aft wood partition on the engine compartment was easy to remove / replace and enhanced access. Took the…See More

Sailing on . . .

Metaphorically I am sailing on. My life has taken a turn down a new road.  To encompass all that is going on Sea Knots might be limiting. Then again, the transition to sassea.blogspot.com is like sailing upwind against a current. It is as confusing as learning to sail. You might remember those days. Learning the foibles of a foreign language.
