After reading Allen's post I ordered a pint. Tried it on a rusty snap shackle and mine came out just like the photo he posted! Amazing stuff. I'm ordering another pint before we head out next month.

I printed out the Fort Pierce Harbor charts as a test. It was 12 pages and turned out very nice. I'm not familiar with the other chart group.

Doug: My experience is that 8 inches is a good number. 10 inches is fuel starvation with loss of RPM's. I'm surprised at how few sailors use a gauge. Many say they change filters...x.....often. I wonder how much money is wasted changing filters th...

Hi Jay, best wishes to the healing process. Are ye gonna be 100% when its over? Ive been more on house projects than boat stuff lately. Hopeing for the latter soon. House remodel IS coming to an end, been at it since January, cant say I did too bad, time wise. I m hopein to be pushin out of here afterOctober-ish. Tryin to make more time to think about the boat and fit it as needed. I took mine out memorial day weekend and it rained harder under the bimini than not, lol, a bit saturated...I ve put a dodger on my list... Heyits finally rainin here gotta roll up the windows....

We're here for a couple of weeks yet - on a mooring at the marina. My husband, Neal, is in the Medicare prescription donut hole so he's waiting until January to order meds before we head farther south and to the Bahamas. Plus we have projects to do before we head out again. Our boat is Sea Fox - a Saga 43.

I see that you've selected Vero Beach for a dirt dwelling and I certainly understand why. This is our second Christmas season here and except for the no-see-ums, it's a good place to stop for a while. We truly appreciate the city's boater friendly attitude and services. Wouldn't it be great for cruisers if there were more places like this.

Hey Jay, As far as the anchoring options go I have a pretty good list on our Blog.

It looks like a Google Earth type presentation so you can even see an aerial view of the anchorage before you arrive. Each entry has a little blurb having to do with the anchorage. Dog walking, wifi etc.

On the top left corner of our blog is a link marked "Where's Veranda", click there and the map will appear. It takes a couple of seconds for the anchorages to appear. You can change it from a map view to an aerial view. Our blog address is Veranda422.blogspot.com

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. We're in Ocracoke and will have internet for a few days, then probably not again until we get to Elizabeth City.

We met several Renegades while up there and they were very helpful. Navigator among others.

Take care, Bill

Hey Jay, we're only heading north as far as the Chesapeake this year. We've always barreled through without ever really stopping to enjoy. We went as far as Narragansett last year and loved it.

We'll pull the boat for a month to do bottom work and then rent a car to visit our people in Jersey. Back in the water in time to get up to DC for a few weeks before the sail boat show in Naptown, then south again.

Let me know if you want any anchorage opinions for long Island Sound etc. Have a great trip. NYC is actually beautiful from the boat. Enjoy, Bill & Christy

Jay, Diana and Tinkerbelle the wonder dog have lived aboard "Far Niente", a 40' Jeanneau since December 06. We've sailed from Maine to the Bahamas and are considering the Around the World Rally in 2009.

Hi Lola Thank you for the very kind offer, but I'm afraid I don't qualify, not married, no mate. I'm not looking for a weekend adventure, more of an extended winter stay in sun and warmth. I love your area. I spent a few months in Beaufort and go...

I'm just logging in. I have a Pearson 32 and sail the Great Lakes. I love my boat, with one exception. I too big for the area fwd of the mast. Difficulty shuting the head door, and it's difficult to get in/out of the V berth at 6' 1", 230 lbs. I...
