Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Wayne's discussion Inverter in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"You will want no more than a 2000 watt inverter. My B-40 came with an 1800 watt inverter and that was more than enough to run everything you mentioned. . The toaster and microwave can not be run simultaneously and we always ran the engine with the…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Wayne's discussion Jammed Electric Cabin Top Winch in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"Mike is correct. The is a vertical pin in the middle of the winch handle hole that pushed down and disengages the electric motor on the winch. Also, on my Oceanis 45, there is a circlip that holds the top on. I don't remember if the 40 electric…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to GaryG's discussion Anchor upgrade in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"We upgraded from a Bruce 40lb anchor to a Manson 60 lb anchor on our B-40 as well as went all chain instead of rope to chain rode. The anchor fit perfectly on the roller. One suggestion is to put an inline swivel on the anchor and have a boat hook…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to William Dill's discussion replacing Raymarine E80 display on Beneteau 40 in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"I had a B40 2011 and it had the next generation Raymarine, the C 90w. This will fit the console. You can get a great price on the Raymarine website in the recondiitoned/special section of their site. However, if you have radar, the C90w uses a…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Peter Kane's discussion Pad eye to fit track on mast in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"I put a whisker pole on my B-40 mast. To do so, I ordered the mast track and all accessories from US Spars and then followed their instructions for mounting. This allowed me to store the pole vertically on the mast and then slide it down in place.…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to GaryG's discussion B40 jib upgrade in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"My previous boat was a Ben 40 and after moving up from a performance oriented 36 that did well in light air, I too was disappointed in only a 140 genoa with not much shape and very heavy fabric. However, after sailing and cruising for 5 years on the…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to sam's discussion buzz from the bow in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"If you have air/heat on the boat and the unit is on, it can be the condensation pump for the air conditioner. If not, not sure. If you do have air, then turn of air and seer if buzzing stops. And this is a sign of a new condensation pump. Bruce"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Mike Brown's discussion Shower Sump Back Flushing in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"Mike, On my Ben 40, the check valve was in the head of the discharge pump. I took off the discharge hose unscrewed the head of the pump and inside was a triangular flapper piece that acted as the check-valve, similar to the way the head discharge…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Vedat Midilli's discussion Bow roller compatibility in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"Yes, I use a stainless steel universal swivel. The tip of the mansion did not touch the bow. The anchor rode very securely on the bow roller with the shank over the roller and the neck snug up against the roller. My mansion is galvanized. By the…"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Vedat Midilli's discussion Bow roller compatibility in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"I put a 60 lb. mansion on my B-40 two years ago and it fit perfectly. The only problem was I needed to use a boat hook to turn the anchor around on occasion, it it came up sideways or backwards."

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to sam's discussion water in sump near shaft packing gland in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"My hose clamps also needed tightening last year after I overheated the engine after an impeller failure. I assumed it was because the hose expanded or the clamp was not tightened properly when the boat was built. Final-Lee Ben. 40, hull 182"

Bruce Bogdanoff replied to Dave Shore's discussion AIS Program in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"I sent mine back to the factory to be changed when the MMSI from BoatUs was not valid when I added an SSB. There was an update to my VHF radio so erasing the MMSI and update was free except my shipping costs."

Bruce Bogdanoff left a comment for Larry Witty

sam replied to Wayne's discussion Anchor upgrade in the group Beneteau 40 & 43

Teak seat metal protrusions

All knowing list....I have a new question. My boat is 9 years old now, and the teak seats are beginning to have metal "brads" sticking up out of the teak. My teak has weathered, as I am of the  natural teak camp, not varnishing or oiling heavily. Has anyone else seen this? Did Beneteau use brads of some sort along with the mastic? I plan on taking a small grinding bit on my dremel tool and touching each one until they are no longer standing proud, then do a little light sanding. Thoughts and…See More

Mike Brown replied to Robert & Sandy's discussion BACKFILLING TOILET ON OCEANIS 43 in the group Beneteau 40 & 43

Robert & Sandy replied to Robert & Sandy's discussion BACKFILLING TOILET ON OCEANIS 43 in the group Beneteau 40 & 43
"Thank you James. I am really quite sure the trouble is in the in hose rather than the brown water out. The latest theory here is the wear plate between the impellor and the housing may be worn causing  loss of the seal which is the only…"
