During our spring Chesapeake cruise, we anchored up the St. Mary's River, a tributary of the Potomac and home of St. Mary's College, the honors college for the state of Maryland. While at anchor in Horseshoe Bend, we got to watch the college's din...

Hi Boyd
See you have a 42cc. We are hull No 204 & either the, or one of the last.
Left france in Dec 2005 & launched here in March 06
We are pedestal steering, twin furling headsails, 75 Yanmar (almost ticked all the options boxes) We are the only 42cc in NZ.
No such thing as the 'perfect' boat but she's close!

Hey Boyd,

Small world. Funny seeing you here after spending the night rafted in the Dismal Swamp. It was nice meeting you.

Til next time, Christy & Bill

Hello Boyd - apologies for delay in response. Our 42 has a furling main and it has pedestal steering. We have been in quite a few challenging situations, sailing through quite awesome storms (max F9) in the UK, and the Med. The trip from the Med. to the Canaries was uncomfortable with large seas predominantly from the port stern quarter which induced a rolling moment. The Canaries are known for wind and she copes very well - we close hauled last summer from Las Palmas in Gran Canaria to Fuerteventura (the hint is in the name!) and as we gradually furled sails in until we only had the barest of canvas out we were still doing 5 knots. The waves were about 2-3m and because we had taken off the dodgers to the cockpit, we took our first water below and ruined my phone. Superbly safe and comfortable is my opinion. Regards. Alan

Hello Boyd - we also have a 42cc and really find the boat superb. Currently we are in the Canaries but plan in 2009n to cross the Atlantic and then return to the Med. Our 42 is hull 54 and built in 2002 and we have owned it from new.
Regards,
Alan
