Profile Information

Profile Type:
Sailor
Homeport:
Virginia Beach
About Me:
Retired Navy SEAL, Have CSY44 and an assortment of day sailors
Working as trainer for military wet submersibles.(boats that are full of water while you drive them like a submarine)
I have made marriage and failed relationships somewhat of a hobby for the past 30 years but today I am married to an ex Navy fighter pilot and avid sailor babe.
I spend 3-8 months a year traveling to various parts of the world.
I work in the Florida Keys when in the US but have home in Virginia Beach VA
I have been working on and around the water for over 30 years and I have had the great fortune to be able to travel the world visiting some of the best waterfront destinations on earth.
Since 1976 I have lived in Hawaii, San Diego, Virginia Beach VA, Florida Keys, Puerto Rico and Subic Bay Philippines. I was born in Montana and lived briefly in Tacoma Washington before joining the Navy. I have a 100 Ton USCG license and have taught most maritime subjects since retiring from the Navy in 2000.
Current location:
Florida Keys
Destinations visited:
The entire free world and some places that aren't free yet!
Favorite places to visit are Helsinki and Key West.
Favorite place to vacation is anyplace where the beer is cold and the locals aren't shooting at you.
I have sailed, fished and dived everywhere I have lived and all over the world.
Looking to:
Talk to sailors meet new friends get some good advice and help anyway I can for those seeking advice.
I especially enjoy meeting other sailors while on the road that I have first met online.

We do have some 90+ degree temps in the summer months. There are always a few die hard nudies on Sauvie Island. Just sailed past one two weeks ago...setting up his volleyball net in 60 degrees. It was a real weenie shrinker of a day...too cold for me.

Foster, use the NMEA 0183 plug. My E120 came with a short data cable that I connected to apx 30' of standard data cable. Unless your AIS indicates a different baud rate make sure you set it to 38400. You'll find the setting in Systems Setup. Mike

James, it sounds like a great plan. I hope you'll be able to do al if not some of it. As you said even a portion of it would be wonderful. My job would permit me to do the same thing but unfortunately my wife's does not. Eventually we'd like to do...
