Guys, interesting that you don't find much info on net about cruising with kids. Looks like the great majority of cruisers are lonely couples. We have cruised with ours for 15 years so far, and we had to discover thigs/tips/tricks by ourselves. Our first generation kids (they're gonne now) suffered as pionneers, but made our 2nd generation (boy 4, girl 10 girl 11) far more relaxed and enjoyable. At this point, we should start some discussions here, like bringing friends aboard, or shower hour, or sleeping time, food, home lessons for the weekend, etc ...

I would love to hear any good and bad stories about cruising with children because my dream is to sail for the horizon with my family when the children are the right age. They are currently 2 1/2 and 1 and we also have a 13 year old. The dream will probably happen when the 13 year old goes to college at that time the little ones will be the right age.Looking forward to the stories and tips for survival aboard--Thanks ,Tad

We will be spending Aug-Sept '08 in Maine and then will head down to the Caribbean in Nov. and then on to the S. Pacific. Always looking for other families with children nearby.

We've just started the cruising life this year doing day trips and overnights. Learning the boat, how to sail, the weather, the sea, tides, currents ect in our back yard of the Upper Lynn Canal in
Southeast Alaska America's deepest and longest Fiord. We decided to begin small. We bought a 24' American Mariner which we really like and enjoy. Now that we're hooked we're looking for a larger live-a-board that will take us where-ever the wind may blow and back again. Any suggestions, comments, or stories about cruising with kids would keep enrich our knowledge and entertain us.

Hi - We have three teens and find we don't meet too many along the way cruising/sailing, (Indian Ocean). Though there have been many younger kids which is always great to see.
