BILGE PUMP LOCATION

We have just purchased a Johnson L2200 (2000 GPH) submersible bilge pump to compliment the rather small units originally supplied with the Oceanis 43. To facilitate easy installation we also picked up the Johnson UltimaSwitch which uses field effect technology in lieu of a standard float switch.

At almost 180mm tall it will only fit in the bilge sump if the existing units are removed and that seems not too smart.

Where have Sea Knots members installed substantial pumps as to me the other obvious spot is around the gear box, stuffing box area.

I figure if a unit this size is needed it will be a fairly catastrophic event and almost anywhere on the inner hull will assist.
